From the Artist:

The great Sigurd Olson once wrote from deep in the woods, “Over all was the silence of the wilderness, that sense of oneness that comes only when there are no distracting sights or sounds, when we listen with inward ears and see with inward eyes, when we feel and are aware with our entire beings rather than our senses.”

Maybe you know this from waking up in the Boundary Waters or hiking a corner of a state park or backpacking by yourself or even pitching a tent in a field. You sense you’re part of something bigger and truer and the quiet (even though there is water and birds and bugs and breeze) is sacred and inviting.

And perhaps you know this exact scenario I tried to capture: opening up your tent to dappled light coming through leaves and the view of water and rocks and maybe an island and their gentle sounds. You can be still.

I called this print Holy Hush as I began understanding our annual trip to the BWCA as a time of deep rest and joyful, pure simplicity. It’s holy.

This print is 11x14, printed on nice, thick paper here in Duluth and hand-signed by me.
